Job Summary

Vanilla is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - AI Applications with a strong background in software development, data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. You will be utilizing existing Large Language Models to build applied AI applications focused on producing high accuracy rates. Your software engineering skills will come into play here as you’ll take ownership in constructing services to ingest structured results. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will work collaboratively with engineering and subject matter experts to find innovative and disruptive uses of AI to streamline (or replace) workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Machine learning and AI: You are passionate and knowledgeable about the current and future state of AI.

    • You will be utilizing existing Large Language Models to build applied AI applications focused on producing high accuracy rates. Your software engineer skills will come into play here as you'll take ownership in constructing services to ingest results.

    • You will work with product, and engineering teams and build models/services that can ingest data, extract key information and surface insights.

    • You can build tooling to support model training, evaluation, inference serving, monitoring and alerting.

    • You want to use the latest ML frameworks and open source tools to develop new model training pipelines.

  • Hands On Coding: You have direct experience with software engineering and are familiar with modern languages like Python, Javascript, Go, Rust

    • You have experience building microservices and understand the tradeoffs of the approach.

  • Data handling: You can identify, extract, transform, and load data from disparate sources into a centralized system. You are able to normalize, cleanse, and validate this data.

  • Database management: You are able to design and implement schemas, optimize queries, and manage database performance.

  • Project management: You must be an effective self-organizer: prioritize tasks, manage resources, and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8+ years relevant work experience.

  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python or Javascript.

  • Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar for both chat and API interfaces.

  • Deep understanding of machine learning and AI technologies, including the ability to design, train, and implement machine learning models and use natural language processing techniques for automation.

  • Production experience with scalability and best-practices of AI infrastructure.

  • Must have experience with AI observability, monitoring, and signaling using tools like LangChain or LangGraph.

  • Hands-on experience using RAG and chunking to tune LLM performance.

  • Experienced with LLM orchestration tooling and decision frameworks.

  • Experience or exposure building agentic capabilities and workflows.

  • Experience or exposure to evaluation testing frameworks.

  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.

  • Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly.

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

  • You prefer working in highly structured, slow-moving environments. At Vanilla, we move fast and iterate quickly.

The salary range for this role is $190,000 to $210,000. Our compensation packages also include a performance based bonus and equity. Compensation is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Job Summary

We're looking for a deeply experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to raise the bar for frontend architecture and quality in our AI team, align it with the broader application best practices, and help promote frontend excellence across teams.

This is not a feature factory role. This is a high ownership, cross team leadership role.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own frontend architecture and quality for all AI features.

  • Align AI frontend implementation with wider application standards, including shared components, service API patterns, and design system usage.

  • Partner with organization frontend leaders to learn, internalize, and propagate best practices across teams.

  • Contribute to and evolve our shared design system and atomic component architecture.

  • Drive consistency across shared components, service APIs, and UI patterns.

  • Lead large, complex frontend initiatives end to end.

  • Work closely with Product and Design to translate ambiguous ideas into scalable, high quality UI systems.

  • Provide strong technical direction and mentorship to frontend contributors.

  • Establish frontend observability and tracking standards, including analytics and instrumentation.

  • Ensure performance, accessibility, and maintainability across the UI surface area.

  • Collaborate with backend and ML engineers to integrate AI powered experiences into a production grade frontend.

What We’re Looking For:

Senior Level Frontend Depth

  • 5+ years of frontend engineering experience.

  • Deep expertise in React and TypeScript.

  • Strong understanding of atomic design principles and scalable component architecture.

  • Proven experience contributing to or leading a design system.

  • Experience maintaining frontend quality across multiple teams or product surfaces.

  • Experience with GraphQL and/or RESTful APIs.

Technical Leadership

  • Communicates blockers and concerns early, with clear reasoning and a focus on business impact.

  • Able to advocate for quality and architectural direction with concrete examples and data.

  • Experience mentoring engineers and raising frontend standards.

  • Experience using AI tools to assist in development and design.

Product & Quality Mindset

  • Experience implementing analytics and tracking.

  • Familiarity with tools like Datadog or similar observability platforms.

  • Preferred experience running or implementing A/B tests and using experimentation to inform product decisions.

  • Strong collaboration history with product designers using Figma and wireframes.

  • Comfortable resolving design inconsistencies proactively, not passively.

Cross Functional Strength

  • Experience working across teams and bringing alignment to shared patterns.

  • Able to embed temporarily with another engineering group to internalize best practices and bring them back.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience integrating AI or ML driven features into production UIs.

  • Familiarity with GraphQL and service oriented frontend architecture.

  • Experience working in fast growing startup environments.

  • Experience with Rails or Python is a plus.

  • Partner with Demand Gen and Content teams to inform campaigns, thought leadership, and product content

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in B2B SaaS Product Marketing, ideally within the financial services industry

  • Experience in a growth-stage or mid-sized company

  • Proven ownership of product launches, positioning, and sales enablement

  • Strong storytelling and messaging skills—clear, concise, and customer-focused

  • Ability to synthesize technical concepts into business value

  • Strategic thinker with a bias toward execution

  • Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management

Nice to Have

  • Experience marketing to RIAs, broker-dealers, banks, and financial institutions.

As an Account Executive, you are responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities within our core market with a focus on private wealth / family offices. This includes managing the full sales cycle for Vanilla's prospects from lead management to closing new sales. You will work closely with prospective customers as a trusted advisor who deeply understands the unique challenges and goals of wealth management professionals. Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, the team will work cross functionally with marketing, customer success and product to ensure Vanilla is well positioned to meet its revenue targets and grow the business.

Responsibilities

  • Identify high-potential prospective customers from inbound leads and outbound prospecting.

  • Develop and implement full sales cycle strategies for driving product adoption and expansion within existing Vanilla customers.

  • Utilize Salesforce to track the full lifecycle of opportunities to ensure monthly and quarterly forecasts are up-to-date on a weekly basis.

  • Craft engagement strategies to build, grow and expand Vanilla’s footprint within RIAs and independent broker / dealers.

The compensation range for this role is a 50/50 split between base salary and variable compensation, for a total OTE (On-Target-Earnings) of $200,000-$240,000. The Senior Customer Success Onboarding plays a critical role in ensuring that new Vanilla customers quickly experience value from our platform. This team member supports the Premium Onboarding Program—focused on high-touch, higher ARR, often many license customers—by facilitating customized project management and a high-quality onboarding and training experience and providing proactive engagement to help customers reach early adoption milestones and value.

You’ll join Vanilla’s Customer Onboarding Team and collaborate closely with AEs and CSMs, leading and delivering guided training, managing customer communications, and ensuring customers in onboarding progress through defined workflows. The goal: drive fast time to value and early ROI before the two-month onboarding mark.

Key Responsibilities

Training & Enablement

  • Host Kickoff calls, customized training sessions to the customer and 1:1 screen-sharing sessions to walk customers through setup, features, and best practices.

  • Run dedicated customer office hours for large user groups to support users needing extra help during onboarding.

  • Maintain and update training materials (videos, guides, decks, and user documentation) to ensure consistency and accuracy across all content.

  • Contribute to knowledge base updates—ensuring articles, FAQs, and help content stay up to date after product releases

  • Facilitate any technical setup needs (e.g. SSO, IP whitelisting, etc.)

Customer Communication

  • Send post-training follow-ups, collect customer feedback, and confirm next steps.

  • Identify customers showing signs of low engagement and flag them for follow-up or additional outreach.

  • Log and escalate customer questions or technical issues to Vanilla’s Customer Care (i.e. technical support) or Product/Engineering teams as appropriate.

Process & System Support

  • Collaborate/communicate cross-functionally with AE, CSM, Customer Care, Product/Engineering, etc. to keep projects running smoothly and keep all internal stakeholders informed

What You’ll Bring
