What’s New in February: Full estate summary source tracking, smarter data syncing with Addepar, and an enhanced Estate Diagram

This month’s releases are about removing friction—the kind that slows advisors down before they ever get to the work that matters. From smarter AI verification to an upgraded integration, February’s updates are built around one idea: your time is better spent on clients, not on your tools. Here’s what’s new.

Source tracking for all of VAI’s work: Trust every insight, across every document

The challenge: When V/AI generates a full estate summary, advisors need to know exactly where each insight is coming from. Manually cross-referencing AI-generated insights against a stack of documents takes away time advisors should be spending on strategy and client relationships.

The solution:

  • V/AI Source Tracking now extends to full estate summaries, allowing advisors to trace any AI-generated insight back to its exact source across an entire estate—regardless of how many documents are involved
  • Select the Sparkle icon within an estate summary to highlight the exact source text used, eliminating manual searching across large document sets
  • When a summary point is drawn from multiple documents, all relevant passages are highlighted for side-by-side review

Building on the individual document source tracking released in January, this expansion brings the same instant verification experience to full estate-level analyses. The result is an AI workflow advisors can stand behind—one that accelerates review, supports confident client conversations, and keeps your team aligned on the facts that matter. Available now.

Addepar enhancements: The foundation for faster and more accurate planning

The challenge: Managing complex data across multiple sources has traditionally meant toggling between systems, manually entering information, and troubleshooting errors—a time-consuming process that gets in the way of the work that actually matters.

The solution:

  • We’ve rebuilt our Addepar integration with new infrastructure, delivering a more reliable, scalable foundation for data syncing
  • A guided configuration walks you through setup with clear choices around ownership hierarchies, attribute mapping, and account filtering
  • Automated daily syncs keep estate data current without ongoing manual maintenance
  • Customizable ownership and attribute mapping accommodates complex portfolio structures and firm-specific workflows
  • Filtering options prevent clutter from insignificant accounts, keeping estate profiles clean

When client data flows reliably and automatically into Vanilla, advisors can walk into every client conversation with accurate, current estate profiles—and spend their time on the strategic advice their clients actually hired them for. Available now.

Interactive Estate Diagram: Now live for all users

Last month we introduced the enhanced Estate Diagram—and this month, it’s fully live for all users. If you haven’t explored it yet, now is the time.

The challenge: Static estate diagrams lock advisors into a single level of detail, making it difficult to tailor visualizations for different audiences and conversation contexts—from high-level presentations to detailed technical reviews.

The solution:

  • Toggle funding amounts, tax liabilities, fiduciaries, and highlights on or off based on conversation needs
  • Switch between a traditional icon-based view and an expanded rectangle-based layout that shows expanded detail depending on your presentation preferences
  • Filter to Inside Estate only, Outside Estate only, or isolate a specific trust for more focused discussions
  • Click any entity to access enhanced slide-outs with asset tables, provision lists, and in-line document viewing without ever leaving the diagram
  • All customizations automatically carry through to PDF exports, so what you see in the app is exactly what your client receives

When your visuals adapt to the conversation rather than forcing the conversation to adapt to them, every client meeting runs more smoothly. Available now to all users.

Important note: With these upgrades, the Plan Snapshot page will be retired on March 27, 2026. Be sure to save any notes stored in Plan Snapshot before that date.

Bringing it all together

February’s updates share a common thread: giving advisors the clarity and confidence to move faster and focus on what matters most. The enhanced Estate Diagram makes it easier than ever to present complex plans in a way that resonates with any audience. V/AI Source Tracking extends to full estate summaries, so every AI-generated insight comes with the transparency to back it up. And the new Addepar integration removes the data bottlenecks that have historically stood between advisors and the planning conversations they’re there to have.
